It seems as if some employers want to keep an extra eye on their employees when they are not at work. There’s been multiple reports that employees of some businesses are being forced to install certain apps on their smart devices. These apps, depending on their main function, all seem to ask for phone permissions that are not necessary. Permissions only someone would need if they are tracking everything on your smart phone. These apps are being masked as Messenger apps, and other ‘necessary’ tools that you will need for work. Some of the employers are not telling their workers that the app is ‘watching’ them 24/7 around the clock. Let’s look at this one app a friend just sent me to check out. His place of work is telling them to put it on their phones and he wanted to make sure what it was. This particular app, which is called ‘Branch Messenger‘ will only allow you to continue and complete the install if you click a box saying that you are ‘voluntarily’ installing the app, and that no one is forcing you. This app literally tracks everything you do on your device non-stop, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When you click that box giving them permission to complete the installation, you are giving up your rights to a reasonable expectation of privacy. This app can also turn on permissions which you have already turned off in the device settings. It also tracks browser history and cookies; Yet it’s masking itself as a Messenger app. Be careful of what you install on your smart devices! … Look at the images below, it’s the policy and permissions you sign when you install the app. ….
