Even AOC Agrees with Trump Admin, Wants The Feds To Break Up Facebook
Just recently, the Trump Administration began a lawsuit against the social media giant Facebook. The company’s acquiring of both Instagram and WhatsApp are basically the center of the complaints. 48 States and their Attorney Generals, along with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission), have brought anti-trust lawsuits against Facebook.
When Facebook bought up the apps Instagram and WhatsApp, they seemed to have crossed the line of Monopolization. This ‘monopoly’ not only brought on scorn from Conservatives and Republicans, it also caught the attention of some not-so-expected Liberals. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez responded to the news by tweeting out in support of the Trump Administrations action of taking Facebook to court. In response to the news, she wrote on Twitter “Good. Facebook is absolutely an out-of-control monopoly – one that has abused its market power to squash competition, manipulate democracies, and crush journalism.“
The idea here through the lawsuit, is to break up the monster trio of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. It seems as if when Facebook ever has an issue with any company that may appear to be competition, Facebook swallows up that company. Usually by buying them out.
