Dear Governor Phil Murphy, Each year my company hires dozens and dozens of teenagers, college students and retirees to work in our retail stores and amusements (which remain closed) on the beautiful Ocean City Boardwalk.
I ask that you PLEASE take a look at the great work our organization (The New Jersey Amusement & Attractions Association) has compiled so that we can have a SAFE reopening . Our phones are ringing off the hook from new employees as well as returning ones who are wondering when they can begin the job we hired them for. Unfortunately, my answers are only as good as yours.
The folks who run amusements throughout New Jersey have always done so with SAFETY in mind. This situation is no different. Sure, we will have to adopt to many changes and less customers but SAFETY will ALWAYS be paramount. I highly encourage you to take a look at the below linked document which I hope will allow you to see just how serious we are about keeping our guests safe starting NOW.
I am sure you fully understand the amount of jobs and commerce that is at risk here. With that in mind, having a reopening date would be VERY HELPFUL so that we know when to begin hiring people back and at what pace. How do we know how many employees to staff? How do we know when to get our operations complete? How do we follow the silly law of NJ FAIR SCHEDULING ACT if we have no clue when to schedule people? Some amusement parks employ upward of 3,000 people for seasonal jobs. We face a very unfair burden and set of predicaments. If Walmart and others can host hundreds of customers at a time inside of their facility with little to no modifications, we can certainly do it at our facilities. #OpenNJNow #NJStrong #ReleaseTheFamilyFun …..
