Opinion: Vice Presidential Debate of 2020
In the future, Presidential candidates might want to reconsider choosing their VP candidates from the Presidential Candidate pool.
How much credibility can a Vice Presidential candidate have when just a few months before, he or she was telling everyone how terrible their running mate was?
I found Harris’ defense of Biden distracting and phony, in part, because it was difficult to get her statements of Biden while she was on the campaign trail, out of my mind.
As rivals they clashed on health care, busing, and the Hyde Amendment. She said she believed Biden’s accusers regarding sexual harassment claims. (Source: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/all-the-times-kamala-harris-criticized-joe-biden-during-the-democratic-primary)
Although she said she didn’t believe Biden was a racist, she continued, “I also believe — and it’s personal and it was hurtful to hear you talk about the reputations of two United States senators who built their reputations and career on the segregation of race in this country. And it was not only that, but you also worked with them to oppose busing,” Harris said. “There was a little girl in California who was part of the second class to integrate her public schools, and she was bused to school everyday. And that little girl was me.” (Source: https://thefederalist.com/2020/08/11/flashback-kamala-harris-attacked-biden-as-a-racist-segregationist-during-democrat-debates/)
