Netherlands Halts All Travel Into The Country From UK
The Netherlands will not be allowing flights departing from the U.K. until at least 2021 in an effort to make sure a new strain of coronavirus that is supposedly sweeping across southern England does not make its way to their main land. The ban came into play on Sunday and the government said it was in response to more strict measures imposed in London and surrounding areas on Saturday set by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The Netherlands claims it will assess “with other European Union nations the possibilities to contain the import of the virus from the United Kingdom.”
Johnson said a fast-moving new variant of the virus that is 70% more transmissible than existing strains seems to be driving the spread of new infections in London and southern England like a wildfire. Despite the hype and scare the Prime Minister did note their is no evidence this strain of the virus is more lethal. Would you feel safe going to the UK? Let us know in the comments below.
