McConnell Rejects Calls For Emergency Impeachment Session
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell grew a set and put the cabash in the Senate’s plan to Impeach Trump, rejecting their plan to reconvene. This report has been confirmed by his press secretary Doug Andres, stating he would not sanction such a move. Moving forward with no emergency session, the Senate is due back on January 19th, and this decision will almost surely end any realistic talk of Impeaching Trump. Democrats have already proposed holding the trial after Biden’s first 90 days. Many Republicans have come forward and said such trial would be unconstitutional. Even a Democrat has stepped forward to criticize the ongoing impeachment efforts.
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said even if the House would have passed it there would not be enough support in the Senate. “I think, my arithmetic, that means we have 19 Republicans. I don’t see that. And I think the House should know that also. We have been trying to send that message over. They know the votes aren’t there.” Manchin said on Monday. I would think the cheating Democrats have enough to worry about other than Trump at this point. The President has committed to a peaceful transition of power and it is time to move forward.
