Betsy Schoeller Makes Nasty Comment about US Army soldier Vanessa Guillen
A University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee lecturer has found herself in hot water over controversial comments made about the passing of U.S. Army soldier Vanessa Guillen. Betsy Schoeller, who once served as a Wisconsin Air National Guard officer, wrote a not so hot take on Facebook in regards to Guillen’s death, proclaiming sexual harassment is the price of admission for women in the military and “if you’re gonna cry like a snowflake about it, you’re gonna pay the price.”
Guillen, who is 20, vanished from Fort Hood in April. Remains of what’s thought to be Guillen’s body were found Tuesday in the Central Texas area. According to federal and military investigators, fellow soldier Aaron David Robinson killed and dismembered her body. Robinson committed suicide on Wednesday as police were trying to contact him. Guillen’s family proclaims they believe Robinson was sexually harassing Guillen. Army investigators have stated there is no credible information proving those allegations.
A UW-Milwaukee student Emily Cruz has gotten 15,000 signatures on a petition Friday calling for UW-Milwaukee to fire Schoeller. The petition has almost reached 15,000 signatures. University officials sent out a tweet stating that Guillen’s death is horrifying but they can’t regulate its employees’ private speech. Do you think she should be fired? Let us know in the comments below.
YES 🤬
No its her right to state her view. It’s sad of what happened.
No. Slippery slope for the rest of us. I would like to see some form of reprimand. After all she is employed by the University.
Absolutely should be fired! What is wrong with people. What happened to compassion! Such a brutal murder.
hmmm. They wont fire her for that but let someone say something about the left amd watch how swiftly they get rid of them.
I think she should be fired. University and colleges keep on shielding their emplloyees and lets them get by with murder or worse. Dennis D.
